His tradition gives the contemporary practitioner of Astrology a rational explanation of the relationships existing between signs, planets, and houses and upon which is forged a structured and systematic approach that permits the astrologer to synthesize a horoscope, that is, how to visualize the chart as a whole living unit. > > Inspection of the horoscope that leads eventually to its interpretation begins with a comprehensive examination of the Ascendant. But a proper interpretation based on synthesis requires that the astrologer perform this same appraisal on the MC, Moon, and Sun that ends with a final observation of any additional noteworthy factors. The ability to measure these latter provides the foundation and provides the practical means to judge rationally the person's motivation and drives. > > We then proceed with a series of talks that touch on the following topics. > > Lecture: On The Wonder that is The Archetype > > The 12 Signs of the Zodiac taken as a unit are known collectively as the Archetype. Correctly viewed, we have in the Archetype an example how life should be ideally organized and lived. It not only shows what constitutes ideal behavior on our part but also how we should relate to the physical world around us. We have in the Archetype guidelines for emotional and spiritual growth. > > Lecture: House Distortion > > When examining a chart, one of the most frequently observed but least appreciated phenomenon is "House Distortion", that is when the sequence of signs following the rising sign does not follow the corresponding number of houses. For example, if a person has Gemini rising but instead of Libra on the 5th House cusp, we see Virgo. We consider the significance of house distortion from the viewpoint of changes in the person's behavior pattern, their consequences, and how the interference is manifested. > > Lecture: House Derivations > > One of the most useful tools for the practicing astrologer is called house derivations. A horoscope has not 12 but 144 houses; there are the 12 radix houses and the rest derived from the former. When we say that we find a planet in the 12th, we mean the 12th of the First House, but actually, there are twelve 12th houses. For example by derivation, the 12th of your boss is your 9th. > > It is by the use of these so-called derivations that 9 out of ten questions asked by > > a client can be answered. > > Lecture: House Combinations > > One of the most common situations encountered when examining a chart is to find the ruler of one house posited in another house. In such a circumstance, will the house affairs ruled by the planet always become the cause of the realization of the house affairs where that planet is posited? Or do we have two distinct separate determinations and realizations where the realization of the affairs of the house ruled by the planet is independent of the affairs where it is posited? What are the factors that allow us to evaluate this most common observation? > > Lecture: Sun and Moon > > The main significators of human destiny are the Ascendant, Midheaven, Moon, and Sun. And while the former two have a lot to do respectively with the constitution and the realization of the profession of the person in the outside world, the Moon has to do with our inborn cravings, our hunger that must be satisfied and fulfilled so that we may declare we are happy. This latter need of the Moon for satisfaction is achieved by the goals set by the Sun. It is the Sun's power to organize for the purpose of achieving some goal that the needs of the Moon are automatically met. > > We outline the discussion of the Lights around the issue of human evolution from the viewpoints of Western and Eastern traditions. This ever relevant age old philosophical issue of evolution is framed around the question, "What does it mean to realize oneself?" We discuss the role played by the Sun and the Moon in evolution based on a discussion of the "144 Polarization of the Lights" and an examination of energy and matter in relation to motivation and drive. > > On Aspects > > Arguably, aspects are the most complex topic in natal astrology. The relationship created by an aspect between two or more planets may be viewed as a partnership and like all partnerships there can be cooperation or conflicts when going towards a common goal. We examine whether this association will be constructive or destructive based on a number of factors including the planets' natures and states as well as the aspect form between them. We consider first the qualitative modifications to the horoscope brought by planets through aspect and then their quantitative implications. Like quality, the quantity of a particular planetary influence through aspect also plays an important role in determining the motivations and drives of a person. > > We illustrate the above drawing on internationally known individuals that include some well known Finnish personalities. Please join us for a workshop that I am sure will prove to be a useful complement to your own studies and practice. Tulkkina astrologi Markku Manninen. :-) -Solina2 |
