Bastet, kurnau!

Bastet oli muinaisessa Egyptissä palvottu kissajumalatar. Bastet oli erittäin suosittu Ala-Egyptissä.

Alun perin Bastet kuvattiin leijonajumalattarena. Tässä muodossa hänet on vaikea erottaa muista leijonajumalattarista (Mut, Sekhmet, Tefnut). Noin vuodesta 1000 eaa. eteenpäin Bastetia ryhdyttiin kuvaamaan kissapäisenä naisena. Tämän muutoksen jälkeen Bastetista tuli varsin suosittu Ala-Egyptissä ja hänen mukaansa nimettiin jopa kaupunki, Bubastis. Bastetin palvontaa jatkettiin eri muodoissaan aina koptilaiselle kaudelle asti.

Leijonahahmossaan jumalar symboloi Ra-jumalan vihaa. Kissapäisenä hän oli raskaana olevien naisten suojelija sekä musiikin, tanssin ja nautintojen jumalatar. Bastet myös suojeli ihmisiä demoneilta.

Suojeli demoneilta, pitäisiköhän minunkin hommata Bastet-patsas kotiini...

Tässäpä muuten sanottiin, jos huomasitte, että MUT olisikin leijonajumalatar...

Sekhmet oli muinaisessa Egyptissä palvottu leijonajumalatar.

Sekhmet kuvattiin usein leijonapäisenä naisena, jolla oli päänsä päällä auringonkehrä. Tässä muodossa häntä on vaikea erottaa muista leijonajumalattarista (Bastet, Mut ja Tefnut). Hänet kuvattin usein kantamassa valtikkaa ja ankh-symbolia.

Sekhmetin katsottiin olevan auringonjumala Ran tytär ja Ptahin vaimo. Sekhmet tarkoittaa "voimakasta" ja hänen uskottiin edustavan auringon tuhoisaa voimaa. Hän oli myös mahtava velho ja parantaja.

maan jumala,taivaan jumalatar Nutin veli ja puoliso (insesti siis pikemminkin sääntö kuin poikkeus näissä jumaltaruissa)
Shun (ilma) ja Tefnutin (kosteus) jälkeläinen.
Hänet kuvataan parrakkaaksi mieheksi,jonka pään päällä istuu hanhi,
tai joka itse on hanhen hahmoinen.
Ra ei hyväksynyt tätä Nutin ja Gebin liittoa ja erotti näin maan ja taivaan erilleen.
Maan jumalana Geb oli viljan suojelija ja parantaja.
Hänessä oli myös paha puolensa:pelättiin että hän saattaisi vangituttaa kuolleet ja evätä heiltä kuolemanjälkeisen elämän.
Hänen naurunsa,joka pikemminkin lienee ollut kaipuuta Nutin puoleen,uskottiin aiheuttavan maanjäristyksiä. (olkaas varovaisia sen hohotuksenne kanssa..)
Muinaiset kreikkalaiset samastivat Gebin Kronokseen.(lemniskata,aikamatkalainen..)
