Vastaus;

Tärkeämpää on ajaa nuo lasten elatusasiat ym. tärkeemmät kuntoon.

Kuinka unohtaa kaikki.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Directed by Michel Gondry
Written by Charlie Kauffman
Starring – Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Wilkinson

When you go to see a Charlie Kauffman-penned film you expect to see the unexpected. In his first major hit Being John Malcovich, a desperate loser finds a portal into the mind of character actor John Malcovich. (Who saw that one coming?) And in his last film he stunned critics and fellow writers alike by writing a cohesive and entertaining screenplay about himself writing a screenplay about a journalists writing a story about a man who picks flowers for a living! (Enough said.)

So although this movie is at its heart a love story, you can expect it to get weird. The film begins with Joel (Jim Carrey) anguishing over his break-up with Clementine (Kate Winslet), an anguish which is further compounded when he discovers that she has enlisted the help of a company called Lacuna to erase all memory of their relationship together.

Joel is so heartbroken that he enlists the help of Lacuna’s doctor (Tim Wilkinson) and his lackeys (Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst and Mark Ruffalo) to perform the same operation on himself. But during the procedure he is forced to relive his memories with Clementine and realizes they are worth keeping.

Most of the movie takes place inside Joel’s head as he darts through scenes from his past, trying to save his memory of Clementine as the world inside his head begins to disintegrate. It sounds confusing (and it is) but somehow Kauffman manages to keep the story flowing smoothly even as the film flicks intermittently from reality to memory. This is easily Jim Carrey’s best performance since The Truman Show and him and Kate Winslet have surprisingly convincing chemistry.

The Lacuna team provide comic relief with Kirsten Dunst and Mark Ruffalo getting stoned and drunk over Joel’s comatose body while the relationship between Tim Wilkinson’s straight faced doctor and Dunst provides an interesting twist.

Elijah Wood proves that he has a range beyond baby-faced innocent, with a decidedly creepy turn as a Lacuna employee who uses Joel’s stolen memories and personal items to seduce the unwitting Clementine.

This is the Kauffman’s second collaboration with director Michel Gondry after Human Nature which sank without a trace. Michel Gondry, better known for his work on music videos for Bjork and Massive Attack, is constantly changing film stocks and lighting to set the scene, shifting from grainy images and blue filters for the bleakness of reality to golden-tinged lush images for treasured memories.

The result is a heart-wrenching story which may leave you confused and disorientated in parts, but ultimately satisfied and wiser in the end.
